Our expert team emphasizes prevention and education to ensure proper mouth development and reduce the need for future complex treatments. Through gentle care and a nurturing approach, pediatric dentistry keeps your child healthy, allowing them to fully enjoy being a kid!

Prophy (Teeth Cleaning)

Teeth cleaning is essential for all ages. As per American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and American Dental Association (ADA), start pediatric dental visits when the first tooth appears or by the child's first birthday. Our modern techniques foster a love for dental care, promote healthy habits, and prevent tooth decay in children. Regular pediatric teeth cleaning prevents cavities and maintains oral health for your child.

Remineralization Treatments

An effective and simple way to prevent cavities in children is by using fluoride. This strengthens tooth enamel, protecting it from bacteria that feed on sugars from foods and drinks. The AAPD recommends optimizing fluoride exposure to reduce cavity risk and enhance tooth remineralization.

Infant Dentistry

We welcome new patients as young as six months old, beginning dental care during this critical stage to promote healthy teeth and gums. These initial appointments, often called age 1 visits, allow us to educate parents on infant oral health needs and disease prevention. According to the AAPD, it's recommended for babies to see a dentist within six months of their first tooth eruption or by age one to ensure proper dental development. During these visits, we provide guidance on hygiene techniques and nutrition to maintain a strong, cavity-free smile. Regular bi-annual appointments with our team ensure ongoing oral health.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars. They cover deep pits and grooves that can lead to tooth decay, preventing costly repairs later. Sealants use a transparent liquid resin applied directly to the teeth and hardened with UV light. This creates a barrier against bacteria, acid, and food particles, especially in cavity-prone rear teeth.

Restorative Dentistry & Cavity Treatments

  • Restorations (Fillings)

  • Crowns

  • Pulpotomies (Baby Nerve Treatments)

Cavities are actually infections, and they can spread to new adult teeth if left untreated. Restorative treatments like fillings, crowns, and baby nerve treatments aim to eliminate disease and prevent lifelong oral health issues as children grow. Our pediatric cavity treatments prioritize minimal invasiveness to ensure comfort. While these procedures may be uncomfortable for some children, they're crucial for maintaining optimal oral health. During restorative appointments, we discuss at-home prevention methods, providing tools and resources for a healthy smile in the long run.

Fillings

As your pediatric specialist, we aim to help your child prevent cavities by discussing oral health habits during routine visits. While dental fillings may be necessary for decayed teeth, we offer durable and aesthetically pleasing tooth-colored fillings.

Crowns

Pediatric stainless steel crowns are an effective and durable solution for decayed or damaged teeth, providing long-term protection against wear and tear while allowing normal eating, chewing, and smiling.

Baby Nerve Treatments

Pulpotomies, or "baby nerve treatments," are standard procedures to preserve decayed or injured teeth in children. This treatment involves removing infected pulp tissue while leaving the root pulp intact.

Sedation Dentistry

  • Nitrous Oxide

  • Oral Sedation

  • In-Office General Anesthesia

If your child experiences treatment anxieties or requires extensive procedures, we offer various options for sedation dentistry. This may include nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation with a liquid medication, or general anesthesia supervised by an anesthesiologist. These methods are safe and effective, ensuring a positive experience and successful treatment outcomes. If you have any questions or concerns about sedation dentistry for kids, please feel free to contact our pediatric dental team at (702)708-1299.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, can induce feelings of euphoria in some patients. Administered through a small mask, its effects wear off quickly once removed, allowing your child to resume normal activities after their visit. While we use nitrous oxide daily to improve patient experiences, it may not be suitable for very young children or those with nasal breathing difficulties.

Oral Sedation

This form of sedation involves liquid sedative medications. Your kids will take the medication before the appointment, causing them to feel groggy and tired. They may even fall asleep or forget what happens during their appointment.

In-Office General Anesthesia

For patients with significant needs or severe dental anxiety, or those who are too young to cooperate, in-office general anesthesia is a great choice. The main advantage is that it puts your child into a state of complete unconsciousness, ensuring they won't feel anything or recall anything about their treatment.
